Heading toward the preparation finish line...

Hello, all.  Stikki here, with what could very well be the last blog post of our lives as singles.

It's Wednesday night, we've just finished a terrible dinner that I (Steve) prepared.  I did a little experimenting in the kitchen and it didn't pay off.  At all.  It tasted pretty awful, if you want to know the truth.  Not even points for trying.  That bad.

But now it's 8 o'clock, and I'm realizing that six o'clock Friday night is less than 48 hours away.  If you care to think about us at that moment, you'll know that at about 6:30 that we'll be officially married.  Awesome.

Which means that 71 hours from now things will just be getting started at the Fox, and we'll finally get to see a room full of faces from all facets of our lives in one place, together.  Again... awesome.

If any of you need anything, especially if you're traveling in from out of town and need advice about our fair Atlanta, please don't hesitate to give either of us a call or drop us a line via email.  We'll do everything we can to help make your visit a good one.

So that should about do it from us here.  We've got just a few loose ends to tie up in the execution of our planning, but nothing major.  We're really just looking forward to an amazing weekend.

See you soon, everybody.

Inching ever closer...

Wow. Has it really been over a month since we last posted here?  That's crazy.  Then again, you know what Groucho Marx used to say: "Time flies like an arrow.  Fruit flies like a banana."
Hello all.  Steve here, writing to you from Nikki's couch as we continue to put the finishing touches on planning the big event.  Today was actually the first day in over a month that we didn't get a single response card back in the mail, mainly because all of you have sent yours back.  As for those of you who haven't... you know who you are.  Because we've called you and gotten your responses.  Looking forward to seeing most of you, and will miss those who have sent their regrets.

For those of you who are readying yourselves for a visit to our fair city, please don't hesitate to let us know if there's anything we can do to help make your stay an easier and more enjoyable one.  If we don't have the information you're looking for we're confident we can find it easily.

Really, really, really looking forward to seeing everyone just fifteen short days from now.

All the best,

Stikki

Everything you need to know about the Stikki wedding reception

Hello everybody.  Steve here.

If you're reading this blog for the first time, it's probably because you've just received the invitation to our wedding reception.  Welcome.  If you've got the time, you might want to scroll down and read some of the previous posts.  Not only are most of them funny and informative, but in some areas reading them satisfies community service requirements for various municipal courts.  Everybody wins!

Here's the run down on everything we think you should know; you'll get your chance to ask questions at the end.  ;-)

Hotels:
As you have probably read on the accommodations section of our invitation, Nikki has reserved blocks of rooms at both the Renaissance Atlanta Downtown and Hotel Indigo.  Both are within walking distance of our festivities and centrally located to a lot of fantastic restaurants, goods, and services.  If anyone traveling to Atlanta from out of town would like more hotel options based on price, location, or amenities, please write to us at stikkiwedding@gmail.com and we'd be more than happy to steer you in the right direction.

Attire:
For those of you who haven't spent much time in Atlanta in late winter, be ready for anything.  In the last decade, this time of year has seen everything from crippling ice storms to shorts and t-shirts sunshine.  Obviously as we get closer to the big day we'll all have to keep an eye on the weather report.  The Farmer's Almanac for 2008 does say that this winter will be favorable for the barley crop, so you know what that means!  Fingers crossed.

Reception attire is pretty much anything goes. We're saying "cocktail attire" but don't bother buying something new unless you're just looking for an excuse.   Some will wear Sunday best while a few will party it up in formal wear.  At the end of the day your attendance is more important to us than what you're wearing.

Oh man.  Their our times in are lives when sometimes won will spontaneously forget witch spelling is correct four certain words.  This is won of those times.  Give it a minute.  It'll pass hear before ewe no it.

Ahh.  There we go.  Moving on...

Transit:
If you're flying in from out of town, there are a lot of ways to get around in Atlanta.  If you're not up for renting a car for your visit, a cab from the airport will run you about 30-35 bucks to Midtown.  Once you reach Midtown chances are really good you'll be able walk to everything you could ever need while you're here.  Atlanta's commuter rail system, MARTA, also has a line that will take you quickly and easily from the airport to the North Avenue stop, within blocks of our hotels and The Fabulous Fox Theater, where we're having our reception.

Wedding and Reception:
As most of you know, Nikki and I will be getting married in a traditional ceremony on the evening of Leap Day, Friday, February 29th, attended and witnessed by our immediate family.  We appreciate everyone's understanding in our decision to keep our wedding ceremony an intimate gathering.  We don't by any means want to anyone to feel slighted, and certainly hope that everyone will still want to join us to celebrate on Saturday evening.

These are the things I can think of at this point that need to be covered.  More posts as we think of things we need to add.  Write if you have any questions and we'll answer here.

Thanks, everybody.

Anticipation.

Starting work on the promised big update now.  Apologies to loyal Stikki Wedding Central reader Michelle for the delay.

In the meantime, look what popped up in the Dalton Daily Citizen last Sunday!

Incidentally, a big thank you to the DDC for the promotion.  Now it looks like I'm kind of a big deal.  Ha!
